After hearing of another shooting that should not be labeled as just a shooting, but a massacre; the action of a coward, I cried and grieved and prayed.
Many people wondered how long it would take before this issue was used by the anti-gun lobby to bring about more laws to protect citizens from guns.
This is a very old cliche and I believe it is complicated but true, guns do not kill people, people kill people.
We have the right to bear arms legally under the Second Amendment, but this also means that we do not have to bear this right. I have no desire or belief to undermine our constitution or that more gun laws will keep us safe or to take away the rights of lawful citizens. There were no red flags that James Holmes brought up and every bullet and weapon was purchased legally and this attack was planned out for over three months.
AUORA SHOOTING PART 1 PODCAST
GUN RIGHTS AND GUN CONTROL PART 2 PODCAST
James Holmes not only planned the shooting, showing no signs of a psychotic break, but setup his apartment with explosives for the police and first responders to find after he asked for a lawyer shortly after being apprehended by police. It makes you wonder who is to blame. The NRA? Violence in movies and TV? The ability to buy guns for lawful citizens to protect themselves and there families? Do we need to ban guns completely? There is not an easy answer to this question and facing this type of evil.
In this video our prayers go out to the families and victims and everyone that was touched by this senseless act of violence. We also decided to discuss this issue not as experts, but as people trying to understand this evil and sensitive topic by recording two 30 minute podcasts.
My prayers and the prayers of those who work with me are with the families and news like this will cause any rational person to question what we can do to stop crime, murder and senseless acts of violence that occur in our country everyday.
Maybe we should first take a look at ourselves, our beliefs which lead to our actions, and our communities. We cannot wait for politicians to save the day.
