A Challenge to the Great Dennis Prager on Faith and Reason

In this episode of James Allen TV, James examines (with all due respect) Dennis Prager’s weekly column titled: “Mormons Have Irrational Beliefs? Who Doesn’t?” and the column Dennis used for his “Ultimate Issues Hour”.

Dennis made the statement that to outsiders of religious beliefs, certain religious practices appear irrational, and the irrationality of these practices negatively reflect the person practicing them. During this week’s Ultimate Issues Hour, Mr. Prager’s thesis was “If all religious beliefs were dictated by reason alone, there would be no meaning in the word faith.” James challenges this notion by stating that there is no separation between faith and reason, and that all human beings are rational and bound by the laws of thought. Through reason we can come to understand God, prove his existence, and that the use of reason brings knowledge and understanding to our faith.

Faith and understanding are synonymous and the use of reason brings light to our lives and to our faith in God. James disagrees with the Kierkegaardian notion that faith is a blind leap, rather faith is the life long journey connected to our rational nature that brings life and wisdom in our relationship with God.
